Artist Niki Colet is taking bigger steps ahead when it comes to her songwriting. We’ve always loved her honest, raw, and emotional lyrics and her new song, “One Day,” takes it to a refreshing experience thanks to production by Nick Lazaro from Moonwlk and Twin Lobster. In “One Day,” with her vocals reminiscent of Lana Del Rey’s, Niki croons about the little moments, the ‘‘almosts’ experienced when in love.
She shares in a Facebook post, “The things I wrote about in this song happened a long time ago. Singing it again makes me realize that it’s funny, how much you actually grow when you aren’t looking. I don’t think I’m the same person I was when I first started writing it. And yet when it comes to making music, I sometimes go back to that time in my life, maybe because they have been some of my most formative years so far. I still can’t explain why, despite the mundaneness of those memories, they felt like magic when they happened, and still feel like magic when I remember them. Sometimes, the right words can only come in retrospect.”
