This app lets you try on a hair color before you commit to it

My hair, save for the recent appearance of silvery strands, has always been black.

I’ve heard of horror stories about hair dyes, especially when it requires bleaching. It burns your scalp, it damages your hair, and it takes a lot of money and time to maintain. Although I wonder what my mane would look like in crazy colors, I stayed away from hair dyes.

When I visited Azta Style Hub at SM North Towers last Saturday, my hair stylist almost convinced me to dye my hair. Thanks to the iPad he brought over.

He handed me the gadget with the front camera on. As soon as the device recognized my face, my black hair switched to crazy bright pink. That Zepeto moment was brought to me by the Style My Hair App.

The app, created by L’Oreal, gives you a glimpse of how your locks would look with a particular color. There are five color groups to choose from as of now: colorful, blondes, browns, reds, and coppers.

Each group lets you try multiple shades, intensity, and even style—it even lets you see your mane with grown out roots.

I really fell in love with the colorful category. If I had the time (it takes an average of six hours to get your hair bleached and dyed) and courage, I would have colored my hair green. The salon is known for hair coloring, but I’m just not ready to commit to retouches and multiple products to maintain my hair’s vibrance.

For now, I’m satisfied with my virtually colored hair.

I’m obsessed with this green. I love my hair pushed back like this mermaid Lady Gaga from the You and I music video
