The ‘American Horror Story’ spinoff might be ‘Black Mirror’ 2.0

It was bound to happen, just as if it came straight from your nightmares fully-formed like a Greek goddess: “American Horror Story” and “Black Mirror,” together at last.

Okay, so this isn’t quite the crossover you’ve been expecting—but it’s the closest we can get for now. An “American Horror Story” spinoff has been officially greenlit, and it will follow a similar format to “Black Mirror” episodes.

Titled “American Horror Stories,” the Ryan Murphy-led series will comprise of hour-long episodes that will center around individual and self-contained stories, much in the way of “Black Mirror” and their predecessor, “The Twilight Zone.” Earlier this month, Murphy teased the project on Instagram using a screenshot from a Zoom call, where the usual AHS cast was present.

“‘American Horror Story’ cast Zoom call…where we reminisced about the good times… the spinoff we’re doing called ‘American Horror Stories’ (one hour contained episodes),” he writes. “When we will start filming the next season of the mothership…and other stuff I cannot print. It was so much fun and I’m glad we caught up. I miss everyone!”

The release date for “American Horror Stories” is still undecided, since TV and movie productions have been pushed back due to the pandemic. The same goes for the 10th season of “American Horror Story,” which has been delayed to 2021. Still, things will be looking bright (or dark?) for AHS fans, as the original series has been renewed through season 13. Based on my calculations, that’s enough nightmare fuel to last you years.
