Here’s today’s win for you cinephiles: A Cinemalaya 2020 short is making its way to Sundance.
The short film “Excuse Me, Miss, Miss, Miss” is included among Sundance Film Festival’s 2021 lineup in the International Fiction category. It will be one of two Asian films in this specific roster, with the other being “The Unseen River” from Vietnam and Laos.
Directed by Sonny Calvento, “Excuse Me, Miss, Miss, Miss” is billed as a social satire centered around a contractual sales lady named Vangie. She’s on the brink of losing her job when she uncovers the astonishing secret to her sought-after regularization.
The short film will join other locally-centered flicks that made it to the Sundance selection, which includes Aureaus Solito’s 2005 film “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros.”
The 2021 Sundance Film Fest is happening from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3, 2021, where 72 feature films, 50 shorts and four indie series will be presented. And just like everything else these days, it’s happening virtually.
