Uh, are they seriously making a ‘Cursed Child’ movie?

This just in, content-starved Potterheads: A “Cursed Child” movie might just become a reality.

The folks over at WarnerMedia have recently hinted at updates to the Wizarding World’s realm of spin-offs, following reports that a “Harry Potter” TV series could be in the works.

“There’s this little thing called Harry Potter, which is one of the most beloved franchises. And we’re incredibly thankful to be able to partner with J.K. Rowling and so I would argue there’s a lot of fun and potential there as well,” WarnerMedia chief Jason Kilar said in an online investors meeting.

Aside from the rumored TV spin-off courtesy of HBO Max, The Hollywood Reporter says that Warner Bros. may be in talks to develop a film adaptation of the stage play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”

For those who skipped the eighth installment of the “Potter” franchise, “Cursed Child” follows the Wizarding World’s next gen, including Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy, who strike up an unlikely friendship despite their dads’ long-time rivalry. Reception of the play’s script ranges from “so-so” to “literally cursed” for Potterheads, but Warner Bros. is reportedly peddling “Cursed Child” as a tentpole flick—a.k.a. the thing that’s gonna fund future projects.

Well, we can only hope that movie magic salvages “Cursed Child.” We’ll still have a TV show, a video game and a delayed “Fantastic Beasts 3,” at least.
