This digital initiative will bring together 100 Filipino creatives across the globe

Three weeks ago, we spoke to Filipino-American creative Jan Vincent Gonzales on “digital palengke” Mercado Vicente, a digital index of high-caliber Filipino creatives worldwide. Now, the project is amping it up and bringing more into the fold with their volume two release.

Just in time for Asian Pacific American Heritage month, Mercado Vicente is combating xenophobic rhetoric through creative expression. With their upcoming release, you can expect a total of 100 Filipino creatives joining in on the project, with notable names like photographer Regine David, visual artist Anna Bautista and muralist Jappy Agoncillo.

Apart from this, Mercado Vicente also announced their new video series “Tawaran,” conversations shared among the Filipino creative community. “In a video series presented on our platform, ‘Tawaran’ is our stoke in the difficult discussions that revolve around our people both at home and abroad,” their press release reads. It will handle topics such as the ABS-CBN shutdown, where they ask: “What would you do if someone took away your right to express yourself?” Alongside Volume Two, “Tawaran’s” first and full video will be released in the coming days.
