Kenzo’s short sartorial film featuring Milla Jovovich is all about growing up

When the lights dim and the movie begins, what catches your attention? Don’t lie–the clothes.

This is what makes French luxe label Kenzo’s newest campaign so clever. For the brand’s FW18 Collection, they released a film by co-creative director Humberto Leon. Entitled The Everything, Leon’s directorial debut is everything we want to see: vibrant, carefully decorated, and light-hearted.

While the label has kept a tradition of producing very special campaign films, The Everything is easily a personal favorite. Unlike the shorts that preceded it, there are no uncanny dances or heavy symbolisms to decipher.

Starring Milla Jovovich, Jay Ellis, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sasha Frolova, Regina Hall, and with a special appearance by Spike Jonze, the 30-minute feature is pretty straightforward but not any less meaningful.

Teenage angst. The pressures of society. Bad days and even worse haircuts. The clothes come as a subordinate rather than a highlight. Why? Because the designs are enough to speak for themselves.
