The ‘Scott Pilgrim’ cast wants a sequel as much as we do

It’s been 10 years since Sex Bob-Omb made us think about death and got sad and stuff, but the band (plus Brie Larson’s stint as Envy Adams) has been jamming at the back of our minds since then. And it seems that we aren’t alone—the “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” cast is still thinking about this ’verse, so much so that they’re hoping to reunite soon.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Michael Cera—a.k.a. Scott Pilgrim himself—revealed that he would be down for a reunion, considering how tight-knit the cast used to be. The actor was also asked if he felt iffy about jumping back to the cult favorite, with its zany and madcap nature that may be difficult to recapture.

“For me, that ‘well’ would just mean being around that group again. It was such a great group. Fortunately, we all do get together and it really was like a great band or something and we all loved being around each other and that happens, obviously, less and less, but when the movie was coming out and even a few years after that, we were all hanging out quite a lot.”

He continues, “It really felt like an extended family. It’s 10 years later, so obviously life, for everybody, is doing their own thing. I would love, if it meant getting everyone to hang out for a while again, I would love that. Hopefully, this being the 10th anniversary, it will give us some excuse to get together.”

Cera’s not the only one among the cast who has the same sentiment. His co-stars Alison Pill (Kim Pine) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona Flowers) both echoed their hopes for a reunion or a possible sequel, although when exactly that would happen is still uncertain. During promotion for “Birds of Prey,” Winstead raised an interesting plotline that’s pretty much the subject of our fanfics: Where are these crazy kids now? Has Scott joined Ramona’s evil exes league, or did they get a happily-ever-after as much as two 30-somethings can have?

“You know what, I think that would be so cool. I would be so curious to know what happened to these characters when they’re in their mid-30s as opposed to the sort of 20 slacker thing. So I think it would be really interesting. We always talked about a sequel when we were doing it, but we always imagined it would be like, still like a year later. Where are they? But I think it’s way more fascinating to know where they’d be 10 years later. I’m down for it.”

If it’s a sequel in the works, we hope that they get the whole team back together—including director Edgar Wright. And while they’re at it, maybe throw in some songs by Metric for good measure.
