UP Film Institute brings us “Cinemalibre: Conversations Around Film,” which features screenings of both criterion classics and our favorite films—from Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s to Wong Kar-Wai’s. To top them off, these are paired with discussions led by UPFI professors.

Happening every Monday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m at the UPFI Film Studio, Cinemalibre will serve us an exciting session of deep dives and unpacking of narratives that stood the test of time. Will we be able to fight for our long-shelved theories, too? We have to go to know.

The series already started last Feb. 10, but we can still catch loads of films starting today. Here’s the current schedule:

Mar. 2 – “A Separation” (2011) – Prof. Giancarlo Abrahan
Mar. 9 – “8 1/2” (1963) – Prof. Nicanor G. Tiongson
Mar. 16 – “In The Mood For Love” (2000) – Prof. Patrick F. Campos
Mar. 23 – “Three Colors: Blue” (1993) – Prof. Eduardo Lejano
Mar. 30 – “Tropical Melody” (2004) – Prof. Yason Banal

The event is free and open to the public, so we have to come early to score a seat. Monday dread? We don’t know her. For the first time on a Monday, I’m willing to get up (and even make my bed.)
