I don’t know about you, but it’s been a while since I’ve been inside a computer shop filled with rage-quitting gamers huddled over “DOTA.” While we might not be able to have that scenario again anytime soon, we have the next best thing: a Netflix anime series based on “DOTA 2.”

The multiplayer online battle arena game and the sequel to the mega-popular “DOTA” has been adapted for the Netflix screen, under the title “DOTA: Dragon’s Blood.” The series will feature eight episodes, centered on Davion the Dragon Knight, as he encounters Princess Mirana and powerful ancient Eldwurm.

Netflix teamed up with “DOTA 2” game developer Valve for the anime adaptation alongside producer Ashley Edward Miller, who’s known for other fantasy-slash-superhero work with “X-Men: First Class” and “Thor.” “DOTA: Dragon’s Blood” also comes from the same South Korean animation house that brought “The Legend of Korra” to life.

“Fans will love how we’ve imagined the ‘DOTA 2’ universe and woven together an epic, emotional, and adult-oriented story about some of their favorite characters,” says Miller. “The cinematic animation, acting and music are simply next level and I’m grateful to Valve for supporting our creative ambitions.”

We’ve got more than a month to wait, with the series premiere on Mar. 25. In the meantime, check out the announcement trailer below.
