9 signs ‘F4 Thailand’ will mess us up

After almost two decades, the “Meteor Garden” saga lives on—and it looks like its Thailand adaptation will not disappoint.

Three months ago, GMMTV shook the internet with teasers of “F4 Thailand,” which will retell the peculiar events that happen when four bad boys and one strong girl cross paths in school. But with its freshly dropped trailer, we saw  how the show is  getting a somewhat different treatment.

With Bright Vachirawit Chivaaree (Thyme), Dew Jirawat Sutivanisak (Ren), Win Metawin Opas-Iamkajorn (Kavin), Nani Hirunkit Changkham (MJ) and Tu Tontawan Tantivejakul’s (Gorya)’s promising moves in the almost four-minute sneak peek, our previous hypothesis is finding its light: This show will bulldoze our peace.

To be more specific, here are nine signs that tell us so:

  1. We enjoyed the soft and often cheesy take of some of the previous “MG” versions, but this more serious, tension-leaning vibe might be something we can get behind.
  2. The red card’s comeback. Its new layout looks less harmless TBH, but why does it bite scarier?
  3. “This post (is) no longer available because it violated the Rules.” Of course everything gets messier when it’s documented on social media. Of course.
  4. Cue our tears with Win’s crying snippet. Growth? Apparent.
  5. Not to start another rambulan page, but the second lead syndrome is screaming from miles away. Dew’s energy is something else.
  6. Definitely laughed at that “pretentious, thinks he’s the coolest guy in the world” description of Gorya for MJ, but we know his character’s something bigger than a full-blown flexer.
  7. Mariya Poonlertlarp, Fah Yongwaree and Prim Chanikarn’s impact, though. Will they play Ren’s first love, Thyme’s sister and Kavin’s love interest respectively? More screen time for them in the next teaser, please.
  8. Tu’s brand of angst is telling us that Gorya’s character is as multilayered as multilayered could get.
  9. Bright’s piercing gaze—whether he’s confronting you or not. That’s it. That’s the tweet.
