Everyone knows by now that last week’s episode of Game of Thrones saw the dead Jon Snow stop being dead after two weeks, a R’hllorian experiment going right. But what did the Red Woman really say?

Well, turns out the answer is all the way back from Season 3. David J. Peterson, the guy responsible for creating both the Dothraki and Valyrian languages, has released the translation for that little prayer.

Zȳhys ōñoso jehikagon Āeksiot epi, se gīs hen sȳndrorro jemagon.

“We ask the Lord to shine his light, and lead a soul out of darkness.”

Zȳhys perzys stepagon Āeksio Ōño jorepi, se morghūltas lȳs qēlītsos sikagon.

“We beg the Lord to share his fire, and light a candle that has gone out.”

Hen sȳndrorro, ōños. Hen ñuqīr, perzys. Hen morghot, glaeson.

“From darkness, light. From ashes, fire. From death, life.”

That sounds highly apropos for Election Day. Now go do your part in reviving this country from the darkness (if you haven’t already).
