Still in search of rare and classic Filipino films? Good news, because more local movies will be up online real soon—just ask ABS-CBN’s Film Restoration arm.
Dubbed “Sagip Pelikula Festival,” the ABS-CBN Film Restoration will showcase digitally restored and remastered Filipino movies “Haplos,” “Bad Bananas sa Puting Tabing,” “Ikaw ay Akin,” “Karma,” the Mike de Leon-directed “Kung Mangarap ka’t Magising” and of course, “Oro, Plata Mata,” which is considered to be director Peque Gallaga’s masterpiece.
For director Jose Javier Reyes, “Films aren’t just mere reels. They are photographs of moments in our history; proof of who we were, what we are, and what we will become.” His 1996 romantic film “Radio Romance” starring Claudine Barretto, John Estrada, Sharmaine Arnaiz, Gelli de Belen, Robin Darroza and Paolo Abrera will also be shown at this festival.
Nothing beats the time-travel brought by our Philippine cinema gems, so make sure to tell your friends.
The films will be streamed via the Key to Experiences (KTX) website starting Feb. 10. Tickets starting at P99 pesos each will soon be available here.
