Every nerd’s dream includes a plane ticket to San Diego and a badge to Comic-Con, particularly a coveted spot in the famous Hall H—a.k.a, the room where it happens. With the pandemic slashing big events, San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) took a big hit, having canceled its annual convention for the first time in 50 years. But now, the god of geeks has blessed us with a solution—Comic-Con at Home.
The newest initiative by SDCC was announced through a short Twitter video, which poked fun on the convention experience: “Coming soon…Free parking, comfy chairs, personalized snacks, no lines, pets welcome, badges for all, and a front-row seat to…Comic-Con at Home.”

This year’s SDCC dates were originally set in Jul. 23 to 26, presumably the same time slated for Comic-Con at Home. It was announced on Apr. 17 that the anticipated event had to be canceled—at least, the version held at the San Diego Convention Center.

“Recognizing that countless attendees save and plan for its conventions each year, and how many exhibitors and stakeholders rely upon its events for a major portion of their livelihood, they had hoped to delay this decision in anticipation that COVID-19 concerns might lessen by summer,” SDCC’s statement reads. “Continuous monitoring of health advisories and recent statements by the Governor of California have made it clear that it would not be safe to move forward with plans for this year.”
Will Tom Hiddleston be in full Loki garb again in virtual Hall H? Will Daniel Radcliffe come to my house wearing a Spiderman suit? Probably not, but info on the new SDCC agenda are still scarce—expect extra details from their social media channels soon.
