These are what everyone Googled in 2019

You know what December means for us internet dwellers—a whole bunch of year-end wrap-ups. Last week, Spotify unveiled its top artists and the sign with the highest activity (spoiler alert: it was Scorpio). Today, Google revealed this year’s top trending Google searches, from blockbusters to Gen-Z subcultures, all wrapped up in one video.

Notable topics that made the list include three box office smashes “Joker,” “Captain Marvel,” and “Avengers: Endgame.” In the TV Series department, the world constantly Googled “The Mandalorian,” “Game of Thrones,” and “Stranger Things.” Two trending track searches are “Old Town Road” and “Sunflower,” while musicians who topped the list include Lizzo, Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X. On the other hand, the subculture styles on everyone’s minds were e-girl, VSCO girl, and surprise, surprise—emo.
