The 25-year-old singer was rushed to the hospital after an apparent overdose. According to TMZ, she was admitted at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and she’s now awake.
Lovato has been very vocal in sharing her stories in battling substance abuse, bipolar disorder, and bulimiaLast March, in her New York tour with DJ Khaled she said that “I know that there are people here tonight that need to ask for help and I want them to know that it’s OK. Mental health is something that we all need to talk about and we need to take the stigma away from it. So let’s raise the awareness. Let’s let everybody know it’s OK to have a mental illness and addiction problem.” Since her hospitalization, her fans and friends showed their unwavering support through this trying time.

The Tell Me You Love Me tour is also her celebration of her sixth year of her sobriety–but reports say that Lovato was feared to be relapsing for weeksIn her song, “Sober”, she ended the song with: “I’m sorry that I’m here again, I promise I’ll get help/It wasn’t my intention, I’m sorry to myself.” Nothing’s harder than fighting a battle you can’t see. Her song speaks volume of her struggles that everyone should hear. Being an open book about her struggles, this chapter in her life is truly dark. But it also reveals that the fight for one’s mental health is an ongoing battle.
Contrary to popular belief, achieving stability for someone who suffers from mental illness is never easy. There will always be dark moments and point of vulnerability.
