To all the young Mr. Robots out there, here’s your chance to prove that you’ve got the stuff.

NASA’s annual International Space Apps Challenge is coming back for its 8th year, and the Philippines is part of their radar once again. The 48-hour global hackathon for Manila participants will happen in De La Salle University on Oct. 18 to 20.

The Space Apps Challenge is a global competition where coders, designers and technologists come together for an opportunity to tinker with NASA’s open-source data. The goal is to create new solutions for real-life problems, with challenge categories ranging from our oceans to the moon, and all the way to neighboring planets.

Last year, the initiative had over 18,000 participants from 75 countries across the world. In 2018, some of the winning projects included virtual reality lunar exploration, an acoustic map of Earth, and a framework for an autonomous damage inspector called the BeeBots, which look kind of similar to the “Spiderman: Homecoming” robots. These guys are basically making superhero movies a reality.

If you’re up for the challenge, you can send your application here. P.S., registration is free!
