The SCOUT team is a sucker for two things: nonprofits and D.I.Y. publishing. Luckily for folks like us, there’s an event catering to these interests. What better way to end Aquarius szn than being creative with zines and helping out Lumad students with Zineskwela?
Zineskwela is a zine-fundraiser that educates us on zine-making 101. Hosted by AUX (Artists in BPO Unite for Social Change), Ibong Adorno, MAKÔ and Save Our Schools Network, expect to sit down for zine workshops, book discussions, and meeting your fave zine artists, while buying a couple copies of their zines as well. They’re also hosting a benefit gig during this pay-what-you-can event.

In the past, we reported how 55 Lumad schools were suspended in Davao due to being red-tagged by the DepEd. This remains unfair for these students to be deprived of education by their own government. A month ago, we asked teachers to lend their time to help out during their Moving Up Ceremony. This time around, you don’t need a degree in education to do what you can for these students. You just need to be a little zine-crazy.
