Let’s face it. Unless you’re at least in your late 30’s, you can only imagine what it’s like to live under Martial Law, and know what the Philippines was like in the reign of former President Ferdinand Marcos. I mean, we’ve all seen and perhaps even participated in the #MarcosARTrocies posts on Twitter, but we can only know so much if we weren’t even born then, right? The best we could do is scour the Internet. But then again, how can you tell if what you’re reading is reliable?—Especially with the ongoing battle with Marcos Revisionism, like in the case of Wikipedia.
Well, for one, you can now visit the Martial Law Museum, an online museum dedicated to Martial Law, that aims to counter historical revisions. It holds a collection of over 300 references, including more than 150 books and articles, 100 photos, 50 videos, and 25 online exhibits. There’s even a section for the current titled “Lessons from Martial Law.”
