Your favorite love teams are reshuffled in this YouTube series

Even with the success of love team-breaker films like “Hello, Love, Goodbye” (and how it managed to make two celebrities from entirely different—and sensational—pairings work), our country’s love team culture is still alive and kicking. Because of this, it still is difficult to imagine stars from solid team-ups regularly get into fresh onscreen dynamics.

And when it comes to shipping “impossible” love teams, a TV network is the last entity you’d expect to boost it. Well, that’s what I thought until I saw this YouTube video of James Reid “proposing” to Liza Soberano. It looks familiar and new.

No, this isn’t a hella clean fan edit of a Stan Twitter resident. This is from “Mashing Machine,” an online series from ABS-CBN Entertainment. The prompt is simple: They “mash-up” scenes from different TV shows, weave them together to form a different story, and simultaneously test the chemistry of the unexpected pair-up of our dreams.

In their second episode, a hybrid of “Dolce Amore” and “On The Wings of Love” Serena (Liza Soberano) flies back to Manila from Italy in search of her childhood lover, Clark (James Reid). Their comeback meetup happens in a gig, where Clark serenades Serena before popping the question. NGL, we’re pretty amazed at how seamlessly complementary everything is—from the atmosphere of their separate locations to their individual expressions.

If you’re in the mood for a frustrating tearjerker, head to their latest episode “The Breakup” starring Joshua Garcia and Kathryn Bernardo. “Kaya gusto kong pag-isipan mo muna (That’s why I want you to think about it again),”  says Yna from “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” to Inno from “Ngayon at Kailanman”. He responds, “Paanong mali? Paano mo nasabing mali ‘tong nararamdaman ko?” (How is it wrong? How can you say that my feelings for you are a mistake?)

Did this channel actually make our impossible ships canon? Whoever pitched this in the meeting, you’re the real G.
