K-pop’s Beyonce Chung Ha is officially onboard 88rising

I guess Rich Brian’s one-year-old “These Nights” music video was kind of a hint: The artist he collabed with, Chung Ha, is officially part of 88rising now.

Doesn’t ring a bell? I got you: She was on the first season of idol reality show Produce 101 (easily giving us one of the best moments on the show by freestyling to Beyonce), where she placed fourth in the finale and made it to the lineup of girl group I.O.I. She’s now a soloist and the latest artist to sign under 88rising.

And get this, she’s releasing new music, too. Chung Ha’s currently promoting “Dream of You,” an English track featuring DJ R3HAB. According to Naver, the song is something along the lines of house, EDM and retro―that, plus Chung Ha’s low-pitched voice and a dance-focused MV? A bop, calling it.

Though 88rising collabed with Jackson Wang (GOT7 member) and Kris Wu (former EXO member), Chung Ha is the first K-pop act to sign on the label.

And it’s a great time to be both a Byulharang and an 88rising stan right now because Chung Ha’s performing at Double Happiness, a music festival on live concert platform Eastern Standard Time

A lot of your 88rising and Paradise Rising faves are gonna be there, plus our Scout cover girl Ylona Garcia, K-pop group ATEEZ and other Asian acts. Maybe invite your friend who thinks you’re losing your Filipino identity for supporting other Asian artists.
