Taylor Swift screamed “productivity” with surprise album drop

Dunno where Taylor Swift gets her 2020 productivity—but I want it.

If we all think she’s over this hell year after dropping “folklore,” she wants us to shake, shake that notion off. Taylor just announced a major bomb on her social media tonight. Only a few hours from now, we’ll get to hear her follow-up to “folklore” called “evermore.” Oh, and we’re getting a music video too.

In a Twitter post, she described her ninth album as a sister record to “folklore.” “To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs. To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music,” her tweet reads. “We chose to wander deeper in.”

Just like everyone else, “folklore” gave us something to hold onto during a terrible, terrible year in our lives. Her new album will undoubtedly have the same effect. Plus, she’s back to collaborating with indie greats like The National’s Aaron Dessner, Justin Vernon, WB (a pseudonym for her current partner Joe Alwyn) and of course every pop fave’s go-to producer Jack Antonoff.

“I’ve never done this before. In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released,” she explains. “There was something different with folklore. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning.”

We can’t deny the impact of “folklore.” If anything, it solidified Taylor’s skills and versatility as an artist. A lot of folks obviously love hating on T Swift; mocking her girl squad, her beef with Katy Perry and everyone’s go-to dead horse, her long list of ex-lovers. Her 2020 albums are her biggest “fuck you” to everyone who doubted her.

If vengeance is a dish best served cold, Taylor’s comes in the form of sick ass albums that can break the hardest of hearts.

Here is the full tracklist of her eight album “evermore”:
