Science HS kids, ‘Pisay’ is available to watch online

We come for Filipino high school films for nostalgia, but we stay for the character growth and universal message it slaps on our fresh-from-Renaissance faces. 

That’s exactly what coming-of-age film “Pisay” promises. Thirteen years after its release, Auraeus Solito film is now part of virtual cinema MOOV’s film catalog. “Mga erp, we are streaming #PisayMovie this December on MOOV!!!” Cinema Centenario announced on Twitter. BRB, blasting “Egis Erp” in my room. 

Set in the 1980s, “Pisay” follows six teenagers who experience a slice of the real world—both the happiness and WTF-inducing parts—upon entering Philippine Science High School. 

As “gifted” students of the top school in the country, they take on the challenge of college-level courses of math, biology, chemistry and physics. 

But apart from that, this film also allows us a look at how high school life was during the Marcos regime. How did Martial Law affect the youth?
