These new eco-friendly PNR trains are made in the Philippines

Hey, fellow commuters! Our daily grind just got greener and it seems to support local technology even more. According to Inquirer, The Philippine National Railways plans to use the first-ever Philippine made train by our very own Department of Science and Technology.

Starting Mar. 1, these Filipino-made hybrid electric trains will save commuters from the rush hour. Comparing them to diesel or steam driven trains, hybrid electric trains are better for our environment. It’s technology can help us cut down on our carbon emissions significantly. And in our smog-filled city, solutions like these are what we need the most.

The route of these trains is still unknown. Will they serve provincial routes? Or will we see them around Metro Manila?

With the news of MRT/LRT’s possible schedule extension, 2019 looks like a pretty good year for commuting warriors out there. It’s also a lovely initiative of the PNR to show support for our local engineers. Who knew we can support local and go green with one passenger at a time?

Here’s to wishing that more benefits and great news will come to our daily commute. God knows we need all the blessings we can get during hellish rush hour struggles.

Are you excited to ride these locally made trains? @ us @scoutmagph
