I don’t know about you, but the adult coloring trend a few years back may just be one of the most wholesome fads. It makes perfect sense that the activity’s making its return in the age of quarantine, and some creatives are adding their own take to it. For this one, we’re pointing to the cinephiles and coloring enthusiasts specifically: Here are some Wes Anderson and Hayao Miyazaki-inspired sheets, downloadable for free.

Artist Jordan Bolton, known for his previous artworks on the defining objects of certain films, has turned his famous paper-and-clay flatlays into outlined coloring sheets. Each object in one work represents an important aspect of the story or one character, such as Satsuki’s red umbrella in Miyazaki’s “My Neighbor Totoro” and the many books featured in Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom.”

If you’re a little lost on what palette to use, don’t worry. Bolton’s suggestions appear on the top of each coloring page, if you want to go by the book and stick close to his original designs. Alternatively, you can try freewheeling by experimenting on different palettes of your own. The posters available include Anderson’s “The Royal Tenenbaums,” “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou,” “Moonrise Kingdom” and “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” as well as Miyazaki’s “Princess Mononoke,” “Spirited Away” and “My Neighbor Totoro.”

Whether you have a 64 Crayola pack or a fancy box of colored pencils in your arsenal, these sheets are available for anyone to download and print here.
