This morning, we all received the heartbreaking news that Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, whom a lot of people call the best president this country never got around to electing, passed away. She passed away in her sleep at 8:52 this morning while confined at St. Luke’s in Bonifacio Global City. She was 71.

While her most recent bid for the presidency this year was wracked by some terrible decisions (like her running mate) and concerns about her failing health, since all has been said and done, we’d like to remember her at her best: a brilliant legal mind coupled with tenacity, ferocity, and wit, and the ability to recognize how to remain relevant with a constituency that gets younger and younger. Which is to be intelligently savage and quotable as fuck during Senate hearings.

With that, here’s an awesome Thug Life compilation of her sick burns over the past few years, care of the Madlang People Facebook page. Our personal favorite is the story she was telling Sharon Cuneta about the butcher she wanted to shoot for being a bully. Rest in power, madam senator. You deserved a lot better.
