Another month, another “The Sims 5” crumb. This time, the folks over at Electronic Arts (EA) could be saying something close to a confirmation.

During a recent interview with website VentureBeat, EA’s director of studios Laura Miele seemingly hinted at this, confirming that the video game company is currently developing the “next generation” of “The Sims” franchise.

“The team is hard at work on the next generation of that experience,” she said, which was earlier spotted and transcribed by Sims Community. The conversation with Miele also touched upon social-based games like “Roblox” and “Fortnite,” and how “The Sims” franchise paved the way for simulation and virtual experiences such as these.

“I think 20 years later we learned a lot about how players interact, what motivates players, how players can come together cooperatively and so as you imagine as we think about the next generation of ‘The Sims,’ it’s super important for us to have the best tools, the most flexibility and for players to really expand on their creativity, remix items and objects in the world,” she added.

Of course, “The Sims” franchise is no stranger to rumors about its fifth installment. Last year, an EA executive alluded to a multiplayer option for a next-gen game. Along with several alleged leaks, the game’s community also did some major sleuthing on the company’s new job openings, leading some to deduce possible story and narrative features and a so-called “competitive mode.”

One of “The Sims’” biggest releases in the past year was a “Star Wars” game pack, although it wasn’t as well-received with The Simmer community. (As a “Star Wars” fan: Yes! As a Simmer: Where are my controllable babies?!)

Meanwhile, the game has also dropped a hot new EP—and by “EP,” we mean eyeshadow palette.
