Somewhere in the hypothetical book of fashion’s golden rules are the words: “You can never go wrong with basics.” But for those battling the blues of styling boredom, designers and creators are remedying “dull” into something new altogether.

Local brand Construction Layers (CLAY for short) is one who’s up for the challenge. Launched in 2019 by creatives Christian Philippe Garcia and Kendrick Cay, their second RTW collection “Timescapes” is a mix of unisex garments that, to them, switch the brand’s direction into a new route. What started as a name that reflected their values additionally became an updated view on the classics, a callback to the adaptability fashion needs.

“Our focus shifted to how classic garments such as tees and button-down shirts can be reinterpreted to feel both new and familiar, paralleling the shift in how we started to view the idea of time in the midst of the pandemic,” they said in an email.

Aside from tees and button-downs, “Timescapes” spans Philippine-made pieces including crossbody bags, shorts, pants, and jackets, starting from P1,390. Check out the lookbook below.
