Scout Friday Picks: Jessica Connelly

With this year’s Scout Music Fest right around the corner (15 days away to be exact), we’re having another one of the amazing artists included in this year’s line-up for today’s #ScoutFridayPicks. This week, we’re having none other than our May 2015 cover-girl Jess Connelly.

Wondering what influences Jessica Connelly’s soulful, R&B tunes? Check out these tracks.

1. Mariah Carey – “Breakdown ft. Krayzie Bone, Wish Bone”

“Growing up, I always gravitated towards 90s R&B. Mariah’s combo of melodic & airy vocals + bone thugs’ rap style are all i need in one song.”

2. Fat Joe – “What’s Luv?” feat. Ashanti

“I think early 2000’s hip hop is an underrated era. I bought this in a compilation cd when I was young & memorized the lyrics. I was obsessed with singing it word for word but realized when I was older that the lyrics were not appropriate for a 9 yr old. I still know all the words til this day <3”

3. The Internet – “Get Away”

“I love music that sets the mood and The Internet always does this.”

4. A$AP Rocky – “Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2 (LPFJ2)”

“I love everything about A$AP Rocky & this is my fave turn up song.”

5. Sade – “Your Love Is King”

“For me, Sade is one of the best examples of how to be timeless.”

6. Rihanna – “Loveee Song” feat. Future

“Another female icon I look up to, Rihanna. She can pull off anything & holds her own.”

7. 2Pac – “I Get Around”

“My older brother & sister introduced me to 90s rap when I was growing up. everything was better in the 90s.”

8. Smokepurpp – “Ski Mask”

“Overall I listen to alot of rap. From old artists to new young soundcloud rappers.”

9. Drake – “Cameras/Good Ones Go Interlude”

“Regardless of what opinions people may have of Drake, I can put on any of his albums & enjoy them all.”

10. Aaliyah – “Back and Forth”

“Definitely gone too soon. All these years later and she’s still influential.”
