2 Cute 4 U: 6 Filipino IG shops serving Y2K accessories

Fish out your flip phones and rewatch “10 Things I Hate About You” for the seventh time because the Y2K wave isn’t stopping soon. One click on Instagram already proves the effortless comeback of baby tees, wide-leg jeans, checkered skirts, and baguettes—and it’s also the same place you can spot handmade accessories a.k.a. 2 Cute 4 U declarations in 2000s fashion.

Clay rings? Check. Beaded bracelets? Sure. Thanks to young artists’ creations, we’re cosplaying our favorite Y2K movie protagonists and adding the fun and fearless finishing touch. Here are a couple of IG shops you can count as go-tos for that candy-coated, eccentric spin.

Pink Lemonade

Are gummy bears your bias in the candy machine? Swear by it through @pnklemonade__’s heavily-beaded collection, featuring their take on sweets, flowers, and butterflies. They also customize pieces for a more personal feel—like name bracelets. It’s easy to obsess over their color schemes, especially if it references a nostalgic pop culture element. Case in point: These PowerPuff Girls sets.

Rings are afterthoughts no more. If you still don’t get the hype, @s0phies.w0rld will school you on its limitless potential. Both their polymer clay and resin rings are equal parts magical and eerie, while their necklaces scream chaos for all good reasons. I mean, you can spot a resin guitar pick, metal chains, and wooden charms all in one piece.

Claysa.PH

Down for more hand accessories? Look no further, since @claysa.ph’s quirky roster will have you stack multiple rings in one finger. May it be two-layered, marble or the classic yin yang, the designs will definitely pass your Simple But Playfulagenda. Plus points if you like neon pink and lime green.

To Bead or Not To Bead

We didn’t know we needed pixel accessories, but here we are. With beads fused together with heat, @tobeadornot’s work is absolutely unique; I’d probably know one if I saw it. And, well, eventually feel envy for not wearing the same. From video game hearts and Tamagotchi to smileys, these pieces are a friendly mix of nostalgic and fresh, all wrapped in its enthusiastic personality.

Soon The Moon

Aside from Y2K style, our childhood fave White Rabbit is also becoming a 2021 mainstay. That explains why @_soonthemoon’s candy clips caught my attention. The bio says “maker of tiny things,” and the whole feed does burst of delightful clay-made pieces: food, flowers and even the mundane. Look closely at the details and you’d know they’re a killer, especially in one of the customized trinkets that screams Sailor Moon.

Abubot ni Nene

At first glance, you’d already know that @AbubotNiNene confidently spells kidcore. Even non-accessory stans will be tempted to enter this party of multicolored beaded necklaces, glossy Takashi Murakami-inspired earrings, and stunning clay rings. Whether you’re  the studded gems or the squiggly shape kind, guilty will be the last thing you’ll feel while filling yourself with abubot. Lots of them.
