UA&P is calling out golfers who want to help almost graduates graduate

By Celene Sakurako

Let’s be real. Going to college is expensive. Aside from tuition fees, there are textbook fees, boarding fees (if you’re from out of town), and so many more miscellaneous fees. Not everyone can afford college, and the University Student Government (USG) of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) is well aware of that. Every year, a chunk of third and fourth year students drop out of UA&P due to financial difficulties.

So in light of UA&P hitting their Golden Jubilee or 50th anniversary, they’ve started a scholarship program called “Project Phoenix” to help aid these almost graduates. To kick off the festivities, they’re launching their first-ever fundraising event called “UA&P Golf for a Cause: A fundraising Golf Tournament” on Nov. 16 at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo, Rizal. And as it name implies, it’s a golfing tournament that will raise added funds (aside from the usual donations) for students under “Project Phoenix.”

Open for all, the prizes for the golfing tournament include P100,000 Hole In One Cash prize as well as raffle prizes like a 50-inch flat screen TV.

See you there?
